The Machame Route is one of the most popular routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It is known as the "Whiskey Route" due to its steep ascent and difficulty level. The route usually takes 6-7 days, but it is possible to do it in 9 days if you want to take a more leisurely pace and allow for more acclimatization time. It features a tented camping experience as opposed to the Marangu Route which makes use of an extensive mountain hut system.
