The Marangu Route is one of the most popular routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. It's also the only route that offers hut accommodation instead of camping. 6 Days Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via The Marangu Route. Marangu Route, commonly known as the Coca Cola route is more popular because it can be done in fewer days and has permanent sleep huts at the campsites. Summit night from Kibo Hut is steep and passes Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak. It is a shorter route with a steeper incline and less time for acclimatization it tends to have a lower summit success rate.
Arrive in Tanzania: You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you will have a pre-climb briefing with your guide and have a chance to rest before the climb.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Marangu Gate, where you will complete the necessary registration and meet your guide and porters. The hike to Mandara Hut takes approximately 3-4 hours through a dense rainforest, where you may see black and white colobus monkeys. You will spend the night in a hut at Mandara.
We start the day to takes approximately 6-7 hours, and you will ascend through heath and moorland zones. You will have your first views of the Kibo peak and spend the night at Horombo Hut. .
To help your body adjust to the altitude, you will spend an extra day at Horombo Hut. You can take a short hike to the nearby Zebra Rocks or just relax and enjoy the views.
Today's hike takes approximately 6-7 hours, and you will pass through the alpine desert zone. You will reach Kibo Hut in the afternoon, where you will have an early dinner and rest before the final ascent.
You will start your ascent to the summit around midnight, climbing for approximately 6-8 hours in the dark to reach Gilman's Point (5,681m) at dawn. From there, it's another 1–2-hour hike to the highest point of Africa, Uhuru Peak. After taking in the views, you will descend back to Kibo Hut for a rest and then continue down to Horombo Hut for the night.
Today's hike takes approximately 5-6 hours through the moorland and rainforest zones. You will arrive back at the Marangu Gate in the afternoon, where you will receive your certificate and be transferred back to your hotel for a celebration dinner.
